Our Experience

We’ve cared for animals all over North America, but now we focus on providing our services in and around Victoria, BC, and the Saanich Peninsula. Each pet we’ve looked after has had its own unique personality and needs, and our hands-on experience ensures we deliver the best possible care for every pet.

We love active dogs!

We’ve cared for high-energy dogs of all shapes and sizes! From a border collie on a farm to a playful Aussie doodle puppy, and many lively terrier mixes in between, we excel at keeping active dogs engaged and burning off all that energy.

Regardless of breed or energy level, we ensure your dog gets the exercise they need and has a great time doing it.

Big soft spot for senior pets.

We adore senior pets! Their love for treats, their occasional bursts of playfulness, and their enthusiasm for napping inspire us to seize every moment of every day we’re given.

One time we cared for a trio of senior chihuahua mixes, all over 12 years of age. One needed daily medication and a special diet, while the other two would eat anything offered to them. But other than their meals, what they were truly looking for were snuggles, naps, belly rubs, and endless love.

Senior dogs require more attention and gentle care, and we’re dedicated to providing just that. Whether it’s giving frequent potty breaks or extra cuddles, you can rest assured that your pets will enjoy their golden years to the fullest under our care.

Here are just some of the cute seniors we’ve had the pleasure of caring for:

Feline companions extraordinaire!

Before Dewey came into our lives, we enjoyed taking care of cats on our pet-sitting adventures. Now that Dewey is part of our team, these moments are more rare, making them even more special when they do occur!

This might sound surprising, but even though we have a small dog in tow, we’ve continued to have great experiences caring for cats.

Dewey’s curious and friendly nature adds a unique charm to our cat sits. Most cats we’ve encountered have been welcoming and have even enjoyed his company.

You can trust us with your felines! We’ll take the time to get to know your cat’s unique personality so we can provide them with the care and attention they deserve.

Here are a few of the felines we’ve had the pleasure of caring for:

Two cats supervising dinner prep in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.

A handsome guy doing what cats do best – looking adorable!

One curious cat checking out Dewey in Sidney, British Columbia.

Specialized attention for pets with extra needs.

We have experience administering medication to pets, from pills to eye and ear drops. Our own dog Dewey has allergies, so we’re well-versed in the art of hiding pills in tasty treats.

We’ve cared for dogs that are blind or deaf, as well as those with medical conditions that limit their daily activities. Whatever the case, we provide gentle and attentive care tailored to your pet’s unique needs.

In addition to our hands-on experiences with animals, we are scheduled to become certified in pet first aid and CPR in September 2024. Our goal is to ensure your pets receive the best possible care in any emergency situation.

Here are a few of the pets we’ve had to give extra care to:

A 5-year-old chihuahua mix with a cough, which he took a pill for once every day.

An 8-year-old border collie who was having seizures under our care.

Two of the sweetest pugs! One was missing an eye and deaf. They both needed a lot of special care and love.

Farm care pros!

We’ve cared for farm animals, too, so you can count on us for farm care expertise. With hands-on experience and the ability to learn quickly, we’re well-equipped to handle the needs of farm life.

Looking after a mini horse and two sheep was a rewarding and fulfilling experience. We loved interacting with these animals and managing their daily routines. It deepened our appreciation for the beauty and rhythm of farm life, and it’s an experience we’re eager to repeat over and over.

These are the farm animals we’ve enjoyed taking care of:

Feeding time for the sheep was our favourite time of day.

This 23-year-old mini horse loved when we took her out to graze the property daily.

This farm sit was something we enjoyed more than we expected to.

Experienced pet owners.

We are the proud pet parents of Dewey, our 6-year-old chihuahua mix rescue dog. He’s a sweet little guy and we’re grateful he’s part of our pack.

Growing up, both of us were surrounded by cats, dogs, and other small mammals. These early animal encounters sparked our lifelong love for animals.

As adults, Donna has owned two cats and cared for small mammals as well as reptiles in her classroom, while Karen owned a Jack Russell terrier that lived 17 years and has a lot of experience with horses.

We’re a great team, and you can count on us to care for your pets with professionalism, love, and attention.

Here are a few of the pets we’ve had to give extra care to:

Homer was Karen’s Jack Russell Terrier who lived an amazing 17 years.

Karen spent 10 years around horses in the riding scene.

Donna’s cat Blazey has retired with her parents in Ontario and is loving life.
